Penn Waste Opens One of the Largest Recycle Facilities in the Nation
PostedThe new recycle facility will be the most progressive of its kind in south central PA
Penn Waste, a locally-owned and operated waste and recycling company, is pleased to announce the opening of our new 96,000 square foot state-of —the-art recycling facility in Manchester, PA. The new center expanded Penn Waste’s recycling capabilities, cementing Penn Waste’s position as a cutting-edge leader in the waste and recycle industry in Pennsylvania. The new recycling facility is one of the largest in the nation.
“Building this new facility reinforces our commitment to the local and surrounding community and to increasing sustainable practices throughout our region,” said Scott Wagner, President and Owner of Penn Waste, Inc.
The new facility and equipment upgraded Penn Waste’s sorting and processing capability to 35 tons of recyclables per hour, significantly up from the 10 tons per hour the old system handled. The new operating system will also use optical sorting technology to separate materials more efficiently, at a faster processing speed and with less contamination.
In 2014, Penn Waste processed 81,000 tons of recyclables through our old facility. That quantity was up more than 50% since 2010. With community education and the new capabilities, Penn Waste is hoping to double the 2014 record of materials recycled over the next few years.
“Our long-term goal is to continue to find innovative ways to waste less and recycle more by diverting recyclable materials from the waste stream, ” said Wagner.
Happy with your service, you have the kindest workers!! Thanks!
Glad to help recycle. Everything that we can recycle GETS put into the recycle pin.
